Wallpack Center City is located in downtown Wilmington, Delaware, just blocks from the banks of the Christina River and close to multiple highways, including I-95 and I-295. The area is served by numerous restaurants, shops, and galleries, and is just minutes from the beaches of Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach.

The historic district, which includes the original nine buildings that make up the Wallpack Center, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006. The district's architecture, including ornate brick architecture, Romanesque Revival and Renaissance Revival styles, and restrained Federal and Greek Revival style design, is unique in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The area is noted for its annual Strawberry Festival, held in May, as well as the Wilmington Christmas Parade, held in November. Other attractions in the area include the Veterans Memorial and the Battleship New Jersey Museum.

Of course, not all places on Earth experience darkness at the same time. Near the equator, the sun sets and rises almost directly overhead. This means that there is less of a difference between daytime and nighttime. Closer to the poles, however, the sun stays low in the sky for much of the year. This leads to longer periods of darkness during wintertime.
