Story City is a city located in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. The population was 10,669 at the 2010 census. Story City is the county seat and largest city in Johnson County.

Story City is located in the northeast corner of Iowa, just west of the Iowa-Minnesota state line. It is bordered by Cedar Rapids to the west and west-central Iowa to the south. The city is bisected by the Cedar River, the largest tributary of the Missouri River.
