Springer is located in northwestern Williamson County, at the intersection of State Highway 30 and Farm-to-Market road 29. In the summer, daytime temperatures often stay in the upper 80s to the lower 90s degrees Fahrenheit, while at night the temperatures can drop down into the lower 50s degrees Fahrenheit. The city experiences a great deal of variation in temperature, precipitation, and sunshine throughout the year.

Major attractions in Springer include the Springer County Courthouse and the historic Springer City Jail. The Springer County Library and the Williamson County Library are also popular attractions. The closest major airports are the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and the William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, both of which are about an hour's drive from Springer.

Much of the city's history can be found at the Springer County General Store, which was opened in 1878. The city is also home to the Mueller Winery, which is one of the oldest wineries in Central Texas.
