Severn is a city located in Harford County, Maryland, in the United States. It is part of the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the population was 21,115. Severn's history dates back to pre-colonial times, when the land was populated by tribes of the Piscataway Nation.

Severn is located at 38°49′42″N 77°5′5″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.1 square miles (23.8 km2), all of it land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 21,115 people, 7,548 households, and 4,886 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,860.3 people per square mile (1,111.7/km2). There were 8,184 housing units at an average density of 1,112.3 per square mile (427.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 79.2% White, 10.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 5.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.5% from other races, and 2.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.1% of the population.

There were 7,548 households of which 41.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.8% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 30.5% were non-families. 24.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.18.

In the city, the population was spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females, there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $65,376, and the median income for a family was $79,442. Males had a median income of $51,342 versus $39,912 for females.
