Rush Hill, which traces its roots back to 1780 when it was originally part of Deerfield, became an incorporated town in 1892. The population was 3,553 at the time of the 2010 census.
The town is located in the northwest central part of the state, and is bordered by the towns of Maynard to the southwest, Ayer to the west, uxbridge to the north, and Sheffield to the east. The town is bisected by the Deerfield River, which flows north to south through the town.
Rush Hill has a humid continental climate, characterized by cold, snowy winters, and hot, mostly sunny summers. The highest temperature ever recorded in the town was 108 degrees F, while the lowest temperature ever recorded was −10 degrees F. The monthly median temperature range is 26.9 degrees F. The average annual precipitation is 43.5 inches.
