Pescadero is known for its golf courses, including the Pescadero Championship and Rolling Hills Golf Club. The city also has a two-mile long beachfront and several parks. The city is home to the Pescadero Valley Library and the Pescadero Creek Golf Course Community Center.

As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 10,152. This makes Pescadero the fourth most populous city in San Mateo County, after Half Moon Bay, Daly City, and Hillsborough.
