Paoli is located in central Texas, about 70 miles south of San Antonio and just over an hour north of Austin. It is situated at an elevation of 2,000 feet, making it decidedly cooler than either of those cities. The town is bordered by National Forest land on three sides, with the hills of the Edwards Plateau practically touching its outskirts.
Paoli is located on the east side of the town of Lampasas. It is made up of a collection of narrow, alley-like streets with pretty Spanish-style homes. There are numerous parks and public gardens scattered throughout the town, as well as a quaint downtown area.
