Oyster Bay is a city located on Long Island in the U.S. state of New York. The population was 10,786 at the 2010 census. Oyster Bay is a suburban area of the Town of Oyster Bay, which is located in Suffolk County. Oyster Bay is located on the eastern shore of Long Island, southwest of New York City. The town is bisected by Oyster Bay's Great South Bay, which forms its southern border. Oyster Bay is geographically divided into two parts by the Oyster Bay Parkway, the eastern half being more affluent with many large homes, while the western half is more densely populated and has a more Mediterranean feel. The town is home to many historical and architectural landmarks, including the Smith Point lighthouse, Oyster Bay Country Club, the North Shore Plaza shopping mall, and the Oyster Bay Presbyterian Church. In addition to its residents, Oyster Bay is home to many affluent vacationers who come to enjoy the area's many waterways, including the Oyster Bay River and the Great South Bay. The town also has a small military presence, with a portion of the town being designated as Fort Blockhouse.

As of the census of 2010, there were 10,786 people, 3,642 households, and 2,819 families residing in the town. The population density was 4,688.8 per square mile (1,823.7/km²). There were 3,816 housing units at an average density of 1,372.8 per square mile (537.6/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 78.9% White, 12.1% African American, 0.1% Native American, 3.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.2% from other races, and 2.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.4% of the population.

There were 3,642 households of which 36.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.5% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.1% were non-families. 21.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.19.
