Osteen City is located in Brazoria County, Texas just outside the Houston metropolitan area. It is a census-designated place (CDP) with a population of approximately 2,372 as of the 2010 census.

Osteen was officially founded in 1907, but its history precedes that by many years. The surrounding area was first settled in the 1820s by the Yoknapatawpha tribe. The name of the city, according to one source, is a combination of the first two letters of each of the town's founders: A.P. Osteen and J.G. Milligan.
