Ooltewah was built in the late 1800s to house miners and their families employed by the Mountain Iron Company. As the industry declined, the city slowly declined as well. In recent years, however, the city has begun to rebound as a small, but growing, town.
Ooltewah is located in the southeast corner of Tennessee, bordered by Chattanooga to the north, Chattanooga to the east, Cleveland to the south, and Ringgold to the west.
