The city is just east of the Arkansas state line. Close to Okeene are the towns of Colbert, Woodsville, Randolph and Austin. Politically, Okeene is a Democratically controlled city. Okeene is also located close to Tulsa, the largest city in Oklahoma and the ninth largest city in the United States. Tulsa is home to the University of Tulsa, the most well-known school in the state.
