Moncks Corner is a small city located in the center of Richland County, South Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 1,732. Moncks Corner is home to the USC Upstate football team and Furman University. The city is also the location of the presidential Winthrop Estate, the birthplace of Ulysses S. Grant.

Located in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina, Moncks Corner is bordered to the northwest by the town of Mauldin, to the northeast by the city of Conway, to the southeast by the town of St. Matthews, and to the south by the city of Walterboro. The U.S. Route 278 and South Carolina Highway 223 divide the city into north and south sections.

The city has a mild winter, with lows averaging in the upper 20s F (low single digits C) and highs in the mid- to upper 60s F (upper 30s to upper low70s C). The summer is oppressively humid with highs in the 100s F (40s to 50s C). January has the lowest average temperature of the year, while July has the highest.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,732 people, 712 households, and 463 families residing in the city. The population density was 956.0 people per square mile (380.3/km²). There were 853 housing units at an average density of 411.4 per square mile (159.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 49.5% White, 41.6% African American, 0.1% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.8% of the population.

There were 712 households out of which 25.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 33.2% were married couples living together, 30.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.3% were non-families. 36.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
