Midpines, located in the Central Valley of California, is a city in Fresno County. It is located approximately 93 miles northeast of Fresno and borders Madera County. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 14,052. Midpines is home to the University of California, Fresno, College of the Sequoias, and Fresno County Museum. Fresno State University and Fresno Pacific University are also located in the city.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Midpines has a total area of 10.5 square miles, all of it land.

The city is located on the north end of the Central Valley, in a narrow and fertile corridor between the Sierra Nevada mountain range to the east and the Coast Ranges to the west. Midpines is approximately 93 miles northeast of Fresno, and borders Madera County to the south.

Midpines has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The average annual temperature is 57 degrees Fahrenheit.

The area now known as Midpines was first settled by the Yokuts Indians in the early 1820s. Midpines was first called Fort Buchanan, and later renamed for Major Stephen W. Midpines, a U.S. Army officer who fought in the Mexican-American War. The present town of Midpines was established in 1879.

Some of the attractions in Midpines include the University of California, Fresno, the Fresno County Museum, and the Fresno Pacific University campus. Midpines also has a large number of restaurants and stores.
