Located 60 miles east of the state capital of Baton Rouge, Meraux is a small, unincorporated town located at the intersection of State Routes 203 and 182. It is bordered by the towns of Maringouin to the north, Louisiana to the east, Douglas to the south, and Arabi to the west.

Meraux is located in the Acadiana region, which is noted for its fertile agricultural land and Cajun and Creole culture. Nearby attractions include the Acadiana Raptor Center, the Morice C. France Wildlife Preserve, and the Louisiana State Penitentiary intake center.
