Mabelvale is located in northeastern Arkansas, about 35 miles northeast of Little Rock. The city is bordered to the north by the city of Perryville, to the east by the city of Camden, to the south by the city of Helena, and to the west by the city of Clarkdale.

Mabelvale is located in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, at an elevation of 2,280 feet. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and generally cool to cold winters. The closest states and capitals are Texas to the south, Missouri to the west, and Oklahoma to the north.
