  • Sunset

  • Twilight

  • Darkness

Most people know that sunset is the time when the sun goes down. But did you know that the sun doesn't actually set? Instead, Earth rotates into darkness, giving us the illusion that the sun is setting. So what causes sunset?

Well, it's a combination of things. The Earth's atmosphere scatters sunlight in every direction, but blue and violet light are scattered more than other colors. This is why the sky is usually blue during the daytime. As the sun gets lower in the sky, the atmosphere becomes thicker and more dense.

This scattering of sunlight happens to a greater extent, and we see red and orange light more than blue and violet light. That's why sunset is usually a beautiful red or orange color. So next time you see sunset, remember that you're actually seeing Earth rotate into darkness!

Loudon and all the details!

Loudon City, TN - With a population of just over 12,000, Loudon City might not be the most populous city in East Tennessee, but it's definitely one of the most historic. Founded in the early 18th century, Loudon Village quickly became an important trade center for the Cherokee and the area's first post office was built here in 1790. The city's early fortunes were based largely on its textile industry and by the mid-1800s, Loudon City was one of the largest textile manufacturing centers in the United States. However, the industry declined in the early part of the 20th century, and by the 1990s, most of the mills had been closed. However, Loudon City's resurgence as a center for arts and entertainment can largely be attributed to the establishment of the BNSF Railway Museum in 1996 and the city's new incarnation as a tourist destination.

Loudon City is located in northeast Knox County in the metropolitan area between Chattanooga and Nashville. The city is situated on the Tennessee River about 20 miles south of downtown Knoxville. The city is surrounded by several small rural communities and is bisected by U.S. Highway 270, which forms the city's eastern boundary. The nearest large cities are Chattanooga to the northwest and Nashville to the southeast.

The city is located in the Appalachian Ridge and Valley region of the country and enjoys a temperate climate with relatively mild winters and hot, humid summers. The city averages about 30 inches of rainfall each year and experiences occasional severe storms. The closest state capital is Nashville and the nearest major metropolitan center is Chattanooga. The population of the city was just over 12,000 as of the 2010 census.

Loudon City is home to the BNSF Railway Museum, the East Tennessee Symphony Orchestra, and the historic Fairview Cemetery. The city is also home to several small businesses, restaurants, and hotels that cater to visitors to the city.

What time does it get dark?

As the sun sets, the sky slowly grows dark. For many people, this is a time to relax and wind down for the day. But have you ever wondered exactly when it gets dark? The answer may surprise you.

Did you know that darkness actually begins long before the sun sets? As the sun gets lower in the sky, its light has to travel through more atmosphere. This filters out some of the blue light, making the sun look redder. At the same time, shadows get longer and darker. So by the time the sun finally dips below the horizon, darkness has already begun to fall.

Of course, not all places on Earth experience darkness at the same time. Near the equator, the sun sets and rises almost directly overhead. This means that there is less of a difference between daytime and nighttime. Closer to the poles, however, the sun stays low in the sky for much of the year. This leads to longer periods of darkness during wintertime.
