The city is served by the Lodgepole Airport and the Clear Creek Valley Chamber of Commerce. The city is also home to the Clear Creek News, the city's only daily newspaper. The city's main tourist attraction is the Clear Creek Canyon Scenic District, a region of the Cascades National Park that is home to a variety of natural and historic attractions. Other attractions in the locality include the Clear Creek Falls, which is a series of waterfalls on the Clear Creek, and the Clear Creek Flats Wildlife Area, which is home to a variety of wildlife.

The city's birthplace is credited to General Joseph Lane, who in 1851 founded a trading post on the banks of the Clear Creek in present-day Lodgepole city. Lodgepole city is currently the largest city in the Clear Creek Hills region and is home to approximately 2,000 residents.
