Littlerock was first settled in 1876, and was known then as Little Rock. The present name was adopted in 1882, when the post office was established. The population of Littlerock has declined since then, but is still around 10,000. Employment opportunities in the city are still plentiful, as Littlerock hosts the Kaiser Steel plant, three aluminum plants, and a number of other industrial and commercial businesses. The city has undergone a number of changes over the years, including the establishment of a municipal Airport in 1941, and the construction of the Eastern California Freeway in the late 1950s.
