{Larchmont is a small city located in Westchester County, New York, United States. Larchmont is bordered by Armonk to the north, Mount Kisco to the east, White Plains to the south, and Chappaqua to the west. The population was 10,502 at the 2010 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and (1.16%) is water.
In the early 17th century, the land that is now Larchmont was part of the Manor of Woodbury. In 1686, Robert Cushman, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Green, purchased from the Manor of Woodbury and established the first permanent European settler in the area now known as Larchmont.
The area was often visited by Shakers, who established a small community here in the 18th century. Today, there is a Shaker museum on Main Street.
Larchmont is served by the Larchmont Municipal Building, located at 232 South Main Street.
As of the census of 2000, there were 8,702 people, 3,446 households, and 2,211 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,050.8 people per square mile (807.2/km²). There were 3,573 housing units at an average density of 718.9 per square mile (276.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 77.98% White, 14.26% African American, 0.25% Native American, 1.11% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.53% from other races, and 1.85% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.78% of the population.
There were 3,446 households out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.5% were married couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.3% were non-families. 20.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size 3.15.
