Kechi city is located in the southern part of Idukki district, in the geographical region known as Periyar. Kechi is located at about 10 degrees latitude North, 76 degrees longitude East, and has an estimated population of about 37,000 as per Census2011. It is about 190 km from Kochi City, the commercial capital of Kerala, and about 335 km from Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital.
