Hulbert is located in the northwestern corner of Oklahoma in Grady County. It is bordered by Canadian to the north, by Colorado to the east, by Tulsa to the south, and by Alfalfa and Harper to the west. The city has a total area of and a population of 9,945 as of the 2010 census.

Hulbert is located in what is known as the ''Green River region'' four miles east of the Arkansas state line. The region is a high plateau with rolling hills and a few short, steep mesas.
