Before Hollenberg, Minnesota, there was a small village called Maple Grove. Hollenberg was founded in 1894 by Hugo Hollenberg, who leased 160 acres of rural land from the St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. Hollenberg quickly became a thriving agricultural community of more than 1,000 residents.
