Higginsport, Snyder County, Pennsylvania, is located in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, just west of the Pennsylvania-New York border. The city is bordered by the towns of Snyder and Hughesville to the north; by the boroughs of Portersville, Kutztown, and East Liverpool to the east; and by the borough of Ruskin to the west. Higginsport is the county seat of Snyder County.

Located at the intersection of several important transportation routes, Higginsport is ideally located for commerce and transportation. The city is at the junction of I-80 and I-81, which are two of the main north-south highways in the United States. I-80 leads west to Sacramento and east to Quebec City, Canada; I-81 leads north to Erie and south to Raleigh, North Carolina. I-80 and I-81 intersect in downtown Higginsport.

Higginsport is served by the Eastern Pennsylvania Regional Airport. The closest major airports are Erie International Airport in Erie, Pennsylvania, about northeast of Higginsport; John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City, about to the south; and Philadelphia International Airport, about southwest of Higginsport.

The city has a humid continental climate, with cold, wet winters and hot, humid summers. In the winter, Higginsport experiences heavy snowfall, with totals reaching over in some years. The city also experiences a number of thunderstorms in the summer.

Higginsport is home to the Snyder County Courthouse and the Snyder County Historical Museum. Other notable attractions include the Evans Memorial Library, which was the largest library in Pennsylvania when it was built in 1922; the Trinity Lutheran Church, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places; and the Fox Mansion, which is operated as a museum by the Higginsport Historical Society.

Higginsport is also home to the Snyder County Museum, which has a collection of native and historic artifacts. The Higginsport Library is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
