Haxtun is a small town located in Colorado County, Texas, United States. It was founded in 1884 by a group of German farmers. Haxtun is the oldest remaining town in Colorado County. The population was 902 as of the 2010 census.

Haxtun is located in southwestern Colorado County at (29.980484, -97.551251). It is northeast of Wimberley and south of downtown Austin.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land.

As of the census of 2000, there were 904 people, 319 households, and 234 families residing in the town. The population density was 289.6 people per square mile (111.3/km²). There were 352 housing units at an average density of 125.5 per square mile (48.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.36% White, 0.24% African American, 0.24% Native American, and 0.66% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.24% of the population.

There were 319 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.1% were married couples living together, 10.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.4% were non-families. 22.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.19.

In the town, the population was spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.1 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $38,313, and the median income for a family was $41,563. Males had a median income of $30,417 versus $20,625 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,992.
