Darkness
Most people know that sunset is the time when the sun goes down. But did you know that the sun doesn't actually set? Instead, Earth rotates into darkness, giving us the illusion that the sun is setting. So what causes sunset?
Well, it's a combination of things. The Earth's atmosphere scatters sunlight in every direction, but blue and violet light are scattered more than other colors. This is why the sky is usually blue during the daytime. As the sun gets lower in the sky, the atmosphere becomes thicker and more dense.
This scattering of sunlight happens to a greater extent, and we see red and orange light more than blue and violet light. That's why sunset is usually a beautiful red or orange color. So next time you see sunset, remember that you're actually seeing Earth rotate into darkness!
Hampstead is a city located in North London, England. It is situated on Hampstead Heath, in the London Borough of Camden, and shares borders with Kilburn to the north, West Hampstead to the west, and South Hampstead to the south. Hampstead has a population of about 109,182, making it one of the most populous cities in England.
The settlement of Hampstead began in the late 15th century as a rural hamlet. The name originates from the Anglo-Saxon words ham and hant, meaning "meadow by the stream". After the Great Fire of London of 1666 destroyed most of the city, Hampstead grew rapidly as a wealthy residential area, with large terraced houses built on the comparatively gentle gradient of the heath. In 1836–7, the wealthy property developer Joseph Farr constructed one of the largest villas in England at 106 Queens Gate, a massive Neo-Tudor mansion which can be seen from miles around.
Hampstead's location has always been important. It lies in the heart of the expansive London conurbation, and is the main crossroads of the western half of the metropolis. It is also close to both the City of London and Westminster, making it an important commercial centre. Hampstead has always been well served by transport, with several railway stations, buses, and London Overground lines serving the city.

Hampstead is home to a number of noteworthy landmarks, including the Royal Free Hospital, Costa Coffee, the Athenaeum and the London Forum. Hampstead is also well known for its large number of affluent Residents and its prestigious schools, such as the highly rated Hampstead and Kilburn College.
Despite its wealthy history, Hampstead is not immune to the ills of society. In May 2011, the Hampstead New Church was the scene of a heinous violent crime. Two teenage girls, aged 14 and 15, brutally murdered 31-year-old Jahmala Copeland with a carving knife, shortly after Copeland had dropped her four young children off at school. Copeland's death raised serious questions about the safety of the city's high-density neighbourhoods, and highlighted the need for greater social diversity and welfare provision in affluent areas like Hampstead.
}As the sun sets, the sky slowly grows dark. For many people, this is a time to relax and wind down for the day. But have you ever wondered exactly when it gets dark? The answer may surprise you.
Did you know that darkness actually begins long before the sun sets? As the sun gets lower in the sky, its light has to travel through more atmosphere. This filters out some of the blue light, making the sun look redder. At the same time, shadows get longer and darker. So by the time the sun finally dips below the horizon, darkness has already begun to fall.
Of course, not all places on Earth experience darkness at the same time. Near the equator, the sun sets and rises almost directly overhead. This means that there is less of a difference between daytime and nighttime. Closer to the poles, however, the sun stays low in the sky for much of the year. This leads to longer periods of darkness during wintertime.
