Griggsville is a small city in Jackson County, Missouri. It is located approximately 25 mi west of downtown St. Louis, at the intersection of Routes 141 and 67. Griggsville is included in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Like many small towns in the Midwest, Griggsville sees its share of snow, rain and sunshine. The city has a humid continental climate, with very cold temperatures observed in the winter, and hot and humid summers.

The city's history can be traced back to 1817, when a post office was established and the community was named for Judge Adam G. Griggs. The early settlers were primarily farmland farmers, and the city's economy was based mainly on agriculture until the 1950s, when the local Ford Motor Company began production of the Pinto automobile.
