It is the county seat of Hays County and the most populous city of the Goliad metropolitan statistical area, which has a population of 106,840 residents as of the 2010 census. Goliad is situated at 28°12′N 99°05′W, approximately 150 miles northwest of San Antonio and 45 miles east of Temple.
