Genoa ( Genna ) is the capital of the Liguria region of Italy and the second most populous city after Milan. The city has a population of 219,599 (1 October 2014).

Genoa is located on the eastern coast of Italy, on the Gulf of Lion. The city stretches along the Gulf of Genoa and its southern tip forms the promontory of Liguria. Genoa is home to two of Europe's major football clubs, A.C. Milan and Juventus, and the local rugby union team, Zebre. The 1986 World Championship in Athletics was held in Genoa.

Tourist attractions in Genoa include the Palazzo Reale and the Castello Sforzesco, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Other attractions include the beaches of the Ligurian Coast, the Palace of Caserta and the Cathedral of Genoa.
