Efland, North Carolina is a city located in Orange County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 7,590. It is adjacent to the city of Chapel Hill and is the county seat of Orange County.

Efland is located at 35°6′N 78°39′W. It is east of Durham, north of Chapel Hill, and south of Hillsboro.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all of it land.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7,608 people, 2,547 households, and 1,711 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,527.9 people per square mile (594.8/km²). There were 2,688 housing units at an average density of 598.2 per square mile (227.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 73.42% White, 24.07% African American, 0.19% Native American, 1.16% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 1.55% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.36% of the population.

There were 2,547 households out of which 36.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% were married couples living together, 14.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.3% were non-families. 25.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.09.

In the city, the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 34.5% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $35,388, and the median income for a family was $41,265. Males had a median income of $30,627 versus $21,783 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,590. About 12.2% of families and 17.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 26.2% of those under age 18 and 14.5% of those age 65 or over.
