East Islip is part of the town of Islip, which had a population of 117,234 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the New York Metropolitan Area. The Towns of Babylon and Islip are serviced by the Babylon Train Station on the Long Island Rail Road. East Islip tax-free shopping mall is the largest in Long Island.

East Islip is located in the southeastern part of Long Island, approximately east of Manhattan, north of the Town of Babylon, west of the Town of Islip and east of the Town of Smithtown. It is bordered to the south by the Town of Huntington and to the southeast by the Town of Brookhaven.

East Islip is accessible by U.S. RouteITS and State Route 24. It is served by the Babylon Train Station on the Long Island Rail Road.
