Dixfield, located in the state of Maine, is home to a population of just under 10,000. The city is located in Washington County, just south of the state capital of Augusta. Dixfield is bordered by the towns of Glover to the north and east, Tucker to the south, and Pittsfield to the west. The town is hilly with several mountains in the vicinity (including Mount Desert Island), and is located at the confluence of the Saco and Mill Rivers.

Dixfield has a humid continental climate, with a mean temperature of 44.3 degrees Fahrenheit. Summers are warm and often humid, with temperatures occasionally reaching the high 80s during the day. Winters are cold, with temperatures commonly falling below the freezing mark. Precipitation is significant throughout the year, with most storms arriving in spring and fall.

Just outside of Dixfield are several notable tourist destinations, including Acadia National Park, Baxter State Park, the Giant Killers Quarry, the Gorham Historical Museum,l Mount Desert Island, and biking and hiking trails in the neighboring towns of Glover, Tucker, and Pittsfield.

Major roads in and out of Dixfield include Maine Route 2 (the Ocean Highway), Maine Route 127, and Maine Route 116. The closest state capital is Augusta, which is about 60 miles to the south.
