Constable City is located at 40°5′37″N 95°19′37″W. It is in Oswego County and is adjacent to the town of Freeport. The city has an area of 9.1 square miles (23.5 km2). The closest states and capitals are Minnesota to the south and Albany, New York to the north. The population of the city was 10,855 in the 2010 census.

The city is in the humid continental climate region. The coldest month is January, with a mean temperature of 3.2 °F (0.95 °C), and the warmest month is July, with a mean temperature of 23.5 °F (9.3 °C). The annual mean temperature is 17.9 °F (7.7 °C). The city is served by the Constable Memorial Airport, which is located just north of the city. It is a public airport with a gravel runway that is 8,500 feet long by 150 feet wide. The airport has three concrete runways and can accommodate most aircraft. The nearest major airport is Buffalo International Airport, which is 130 miles to the south.

The city is in the Spectrum News 24 television market. The local TV stations are WIVB-TV (CBS) and WENY-TV (NBC). There are also two radio stations, WHAM-FM (FM) and WOLF-FM (AM). The city is also home to the Oswego County Centre of the Arts.
