Clyde is located in eastern Kentucky, on the banks of the Cumberland River. It is the largest city in Cumberland County and the seventeenth largest city in Kentucky. Clyde is also the county seat of Cumberland County. The city has a population of 23,013 as of the 2010 census.

Clyde is part of the Lexington–Covington– Jackson, KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The MSA has a population of 1,651,202.

Clyde is located at 37°59′N 82°1′W. It is bordered by the city of Frankfort, Kentucky to the northwest, the city of Danville, Kentucky to the northeast, the city of Campbellsville, Kentucky to the east, the city of Hazard, Kentucky, to the south, and the city of Paducah, Kentucky, to the west.

Clyde is situated in eastern Kentucky, on the banks of the Cumberland River. The city is bisected by the river, with the western half located on the banks of the Cumberland and the eastern half located on the banks of the Ohio River. The Cumberland River forms the city's southern boundary.

The city of Clyde has a total area of 23.015 square miles, of which 22.8 square miles is land and 0.355 square miles is water.
