Churdan is located in the rural area of the Punjab province, in the south-western area of Pakistan. The city is bounded on the east by the Wagah National Park, on the south by the Narowal River, and on the west by the Jhelum River. Churdan has an area of 128.59 square kilometres and a population of 118,471 (9 March 2017). Churdan is the provincial capital of the Punjab province. Churdan is also the United Nations Capital Peacekeeping Centre for South Asia.

The topography of Churdan is characterized by high ridges of the Himalayas to the north, a fertile plain to the south and east, and isolated rocky peaks in the west. The climate is hot during the months of April to June and cold during the months of December to February. With an annual average rainfall of 1,000 millimetres, the city experiences four seasons.
