Today, Canon City is a town of 6,916 people that boasts a variety of businesses and attractions. The town is home to the Preserve at Canon City and the Historic Canon City Film Studios. The ski resort, located in the Eagle County ski area, has shaped the course of Canon City's history. The ski resort, which first opened in 1956, was the first ski resort in Colorado and is now a family-owned and operated business. The ski resort offers downhill skiing, ski school, snowboarding, tubing and a party center. The Oskar Blues Brewery is also located in Canon City.
