Brashear City, formerly known as Macon City, is a small city located in Jackson County, Missouri. It is located in the middle of the Bootheel. It is part of the Jackson and Southeast Missouri region. Brashear City was founded in 1879, and was originally called Macon City. It was renamed Brashear City in 1886, in honor of Senator Thomas D. Brashear. Brashear City is located at 33°30′15″N 90°27′53″W. According to the 2010 census, Brashear City has a population of 1,646.

Brashear City is located in the center of the Bootheel. It is bounded by Fulton County to the north, by Cape Girardeau County to the east, by Monroe County to the south, and by Livingston County to the west. It is approximately sixty miles west of Hannibal, Missouri and 350 miles southeast of Kansas City, Missouri. Brashear City has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild to cool winters. In the summer, temperatures can reach the high 90s, while in the winter, temperatures can range from the mid twenties to the mid thirties.

Due to its location in the central part of the Bootheel, Brashear City experiences a wide variety of weather conditions. In the winter, Brashear City can experience heavy rains and thunderstorms, while in the summer, temperatures can be hot and humid, with occasional extremes of both. Foliage in Brashear City is typically minimal due to the humid subtropical climate.

Missouri is the state to the north, Iowa is the state to the east, Illinois is the state to the south, and Kansas is the state to the west.
