Booth City, located in western Oklahoma, is a small town situated on US- 163. Booth City is the county seat of Hughes County and is located in the Western Plains region of the state. Booth City has a population of just over 2,500 residents and is situated in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.

Booth City is located in the center of Hughes County at 33°29′N 97°37′W. According to the United States Census Bureau, Booth City has a total area of 2.5 square miles (6.5 km²), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,468 people, 1,046 households, and 706 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,248.5 people per square mile (480.5/km²). There were 1,145 housing units at an average density of 519.3 per square mile (201.7/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.31% White, 0.15% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.55% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 1.14% from other races, and 2.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.60% of the population.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,046 households out of which 31.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.1% were married couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.3% were non-families. 30.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.95.

In the city, the population was spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $36,454, and the median income for a family was $43,583. Males had a median income of $31,458 versus $20,313 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,543. About 6.5% of families and 9.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.7% of those under age 18 and 6.1% of those age 65 or over.
