Geographically, Blocksburg is located in Solano County, California, about northeast of San Francisco. Blocksburg also lies within the Sacramento metropolitan area, which is the largest metropolitan area in California. The nearest state capital is Sacramento, which is about to the northeast. The city of Sacramento is the most populous city in the metro area.

Blocksburg has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate, being in close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Temperatures usually range from the low 40s Fahrenheit in January to the mid 80s Fahrenheit in July and August. Despite the Highland influence, Blocksburg typically does not experience as much of the cold weather as other areas of the Bay Area. The city enjoys very mild winters, generally averaging around 27 degrees Fahrenheit during the coldest months.
