The community has a total area of 2.5 square miles, all of it land. As of the 2010 census, there were 522 residents in the town. The elevation is 1,744 feet. The community is in the Dothan Lowlands physiographic region.

Beatty City experiences a humid continental climate, according to the Köppen climate classification. This means that the climate is characterized by long cold winters and warm to hot summers. The average annual temperature is 42.7 degrees Fahrenheit. The coldest month is January and the warmest month is July. The rainfall is somewhat unpredictable, with a significant amount of rainfall occurring in just a few days time and no rainfall at all in other months.

As of the 2010 census, Beatty City is the closest city to the Texas state capital, Austin. It is also the closest city to the Arkansas state capital, Little Rock.

Beatty City was founded in 1907 by the Beatty brothers. They began to buy land in the area and began to develop the town. The town began to grow rapidly and by 1910, it had a population of 350 people. However, the town was hit hard by the Depression and by 1943, it had only a population of 115. However, by the early 1960s, the population had increased to 375.

In 1983, the town was officially designated as a historic district. This designation helped to preserve and protect the town's historic buildings.

The town has continued to grow over the years and as of the 2010 census, it had a population of 522. The community is now home to a number of businesses and organizations, including a college, a hospital, and a museum.
