Basking Ridge is a city located in Bernards Township, in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. At the 2010 United States Census, the city had a population of 10,587. As of the 2000 Census, the city had a population of 9663.

Basking Ridge is located at 40°23′N 74°22′W / 40.398°N 74.442°W / 40.398; -74.442 (40.39811°N, -74.40342°W).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.8 square miles (17.5 km²), of which, 6.7 square miles (17.1 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (0.29%) is water.

The city is served by the Red Bank Regional School District.

Notable attractions in Basking Ridge include the Cooks' Quarters and the Leigh Hunt National Historical Site.

The Bernards Township Planning Board announced in October 2018 that Basking Ridge was selected as the home of Amazon's second North American headquarters, to be known as HQ2. The city and county are investing together $70 million into the project and are expecting to receive $5 billion in investment from HQ2.

As of the census of 2010, there were 10,587 people, 3,395 households, and 2,890 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,458.8 per square mile (921.5/km²). There were 3,816 housing units at an average density of 737.2 per square mile (284.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 87.41% White, 4.11% African American, 0.13% Native American, 4.41% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.11% from other races, and 2.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.30% of the population.

There were 3,395 households out of which 34.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.4% were married couples living together, 13.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.4% were non-families. 22.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.02.
