Barnegat Light, NJ, is a city located on the island of Barnegat in the State of New Jersey, United States. The city is located adjacent to Asbury Park and Red Bank, both also in New Jersey. Barnegat Light is bordered by Ocean County to the south, Long Beach Township to the southwest, Egg Harbor Township to the west, and Pewaukee Township to the north. It is connected to mainland New Jersey by the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city had a total population of 13,884.

Located on the bay front and historically a shipping port and resort town, Barnegat Light today is a small city with a mixed economy. The city is most well-known as the birthplace of actor and comedian Phil Hartman.

There were 5,076 housing units at an average density of 873.4 per square mile (343.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.10% White, 0.69% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.68% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.73% of the population.

There were 4,847 households out of which 25.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.7% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% were non-families. 30.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.93.
