Barberton is a city located in Barberton Township, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 14,681. The city is adjacent to Akron, both situated in the eastern part of the state.

The city is named after General James Beard, who commanded the Union troops during the American Civil War. A portion of the city, which straddles the border of Barberton Township and Independence Township, is home to the Akron-Canton Regional Airport.

Located in Northeast Ohio, Barberton is bordered by the cities of Akron and Cuyahoga Falls to the south, Cleveland to the east and Cleveland Heights and Strongsville to the north. The city is bisected by the Tuscarawas River, which forms its northern border.
