Location: Barataria is located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Louisiana. Elevation at the city limits ranges from about 12 feet above sea level at the eastern edge to about 29 feet above sea level in the northwestern part of the city. Barataria is bordered to the northeast by the town of Thibodaux and to the southwest by the town of Lafitte. Thibodaux and Lafitte are adjacent to the city on the east and west, respectively.
