Armarchee City, GA is located in the Appalachian Mountains in northeast Georgia. According to the 2016 census, the city population is 9,559. Armuchee City is in the Cherokee County, GA Micropolitan Statistical Area. Armuchee City is the county seat of Cherokee County. The general landscape of the City is hilly with bald or nearly bald hills rising to 3,000 feet above the surrounding countryside. The soils are generally thick, clayey, Peaty and Mal Intent. The climate is generally temperate.

The region had been settled by the Cherokee before the Revolutionary War. The Cherokee were forcibly removed from their homeland in 1794 and the region was opened to white settlement. The town of Armuchee was founded in 1819 and was named for a halfbreed Georgia chief, Armuchee.

The racial makeup of the city was 64.11% White, 33.30% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.64% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 1.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.81% of the population.

There were 3,142 households out of which 36.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.5% were married couples living together, 15.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% were non-families. 24.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.10.
