The racial makeup of the city was 91.4% White, 2.2% Native American, 2.3% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.0% from other races, and 2.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.5% of the population.

The primary economic activity in Arivaca is education. The University of Arizona is located in the Carrizo Research Station, which is also the research center for the agricultural company Monsanto. Other major employers in the area include the Municipal Airport and a number of small businesses.
