Arcadia is located in California’s Santa Barbara County, about 50 miles south of Los Angeles. The city has a population of about 10,000 and is the fifth most populous city in Santa Barbara County. The city is located in the Santa Barbara Mountains and has a semi-arid climate. Arcadia is served by the Santa Barbara Airport.

Arcadia is located near the sites of the Pre-Columbian Indian settlements of: Santa Barbara, Islay and San Marcos. The Santa Ynez Mountains rise to the east of the city. Arcadia is bordered by the city of Santa Barbara to the east, Upland and Rancho Cucamonga to the north, Los Angeles and San Bernardino to the west, and the counties of Ventura and San Luis Obispo to the south. The closest state capital is Sacramento. The population of Arcadia was 10,331 according to the 2010 census.
