Arboles is located in the central part of the state of Mérida, in the Yucatán Peninsula. The municipality has an area of 88.5 km2 and a population of 23,503 residents according to the 2010 census.

Close to Arboles are the villages of San Bartolo Coyoacán and San Mateo Ixtacama. The municipality of Arboles borders the municipalities of Chanal, Lacan, Tixcacalca, Tekax, Yucatán, and Izamal.
